Our guest house in Edinburgh is close to the Old Town and to all major Edinburgh attractions. We have tried to give the building a correct period feel to it. We have also tried to make sure that you will be most comfortable with a stay here
The Southside is an exclusive bed and breakfast in Edinburgh. With 8 rooms available to our guests we are more of a cosy home away from home than a hotel yet with a 4 star rating you can be assured of all the comforts that you require.
All rooms have en suite facilities with an excellent shower. We pride ourselves in being one of the most comfortable B&B in Edinburgh.
We have a nice array of different types of rooms to suit your budget and your tastes. If you have yet to try a four-poster bed then this maybe the perfect opportunity on that special occasion. We had a wonderful 3-night stay. Had our room not fronted onto a busy city thoroughfare, we would have had a more restful stay and I would have rated the room Excellent. Breakfasts were an absolute treat: delicious, varied and carefully planned. The book and DVD library was a nice touch. We would certainly book a room at Southside on our next visit to Edinburgh. |

Overall: An excellent Guest House in a very convenient location, particularly for Arthurs Seat, the Old Town and the road out to the Edinburgh by-Pass (important when you want to go touring by car from an Edinburgh base). The decoration was tasteful, although some people might baulk at the boldness of colour in places. Our room was comfortable and adequate for our needs, the bathroom spacious and (unlike so many around the world) everything worked. The breakfast offered choice and variety, hot food was cooked to perfection. There were several nice touches over the course of our 3-night stay which added to the experience (most memorable being Bucks Fizz one breakfasttime - small gesture but neatly done). The host and hostess were friendly and attentive - always around when required, without ever being obsequious. Overall we frankly can't find a single thing to complain about. We would gladly recommend this Guest House to anyone who asks. |
