Rating of 1.43 out of 5 Unique ID (3304389931) Good stuff: The porter was very good and refused a tip! Bad stuff: stuffy room horrible dingy dark atmosphere. Check in that the surreal quality of inefficancy, young girls who were not quite sure how to do their job.Pleaseant but hopeless. No breakfast,no coffee(fresh) for travellers leaving at 6.30am. Overall: I thought it would be a good hotel with the great location and the price was very goodbut having stayed in the new Novotel near the art college on my way up for only 20 pounds more I can only say that was 100 times better. This hotel is a great dissapointment with it's stuffy rooms ancient fittings dingy atmosphere. If you can find no where else then ok otherwise forget it. Owners spend some money upgrade this hotel to make the experience enjoyable>Pay and train your staff get them interested in the job! |

Rating of 4.57 out of 5 Unique ID (3304190604) Good stuff: Very pleasant and comfortable Bad stuff: Dont mean to gripe but the TV was not tuned in it was just snow on all channels and there were no teaspoons with the Tea/coffee making facilities Overall: The hotel was very nice and the staff were so friendly and helpful particularly the Receptionist who was on when I arrived at just after midnight. She was also there 1st thing the next morning and was still bright and cheery. The night porter was also very pleasant and helpful as were the other staff I cam into contact with. I will definately recommend and stay again when in Edinburgh. |

The room was small but ideally clean and had everythinh one required for the evening Bad stuff: The room was small but adequate all the same. Rating of 2.0 out of 5 Unique ID (2186011) Good stuff: Within easy walking distance of City Centre shopping and main tourist attractions. Bad stuff: Run down and in poor order Overall: The lift was out of order for 24 hrs and with 101 stairs to climb it made for a long haul. The general condition of the room was poor with no tea or coffee making facilities. The window opened out onto a flat roof giving access to other buildings and vice versa so it was not possible to leave the window open. Shampoo was available, albeit only 1 per double room, but no shower gell. TV remote control did not change channels or volume. Wall mirror was in a bad state of repair falling from it's mount. |

Rating of 2.14 out of 5 Unique ID (2055137) Good stuff: Freindly and helpful reception staff Bad stuff: Beds Standard of decor Food Overall: It is no exageration to state that the eveing meal I had in the restaraunt on Monday evening was one of the worst meals I have ever had the misfortune to be served. The meal was so abviously reheated as the roast potatoes were cold and soggy in the middle of the plate, the tinned carrots were not wamed up properly and the pork was so tough and dry it was inedible (not to mention the gongealed lump of gravy). It is an absolute scandal that you have the audacity to charge almost £10 for such inedible rubbish. I would say that it reminded me of school dinners but that would be doing dinner ladies a diservice. My room was adeqaute although the bed was terrible and lumpy and the window wouldn't close properly so was forced to suffer a draft all night. The standard of decor and maintenance at this hotel was very poor for such a prominant location. Overall my stay at the Royal British was not a pleasant one and I will certainly not be returning or recommending it to anyone. In fact if this hotel is indicative of this chain I will be avoiding it like the plague. |

Rating of 2.86 out of 5 Unique ID (1942030) Good stuff: Location was great. Could not be more central and staff were very friendly. Overall: This was the best location we could ever got to stay and loved being so close to the shops and night life! However, the room itself was a little shabby for a nice priced hotel. Staff were lovely throughout our stay, but could not shake off the feeling we had been put in the grotty room kept for those booking at a discounted rate. Overall it was an enjoyable stay. |

Rating of 3.29 out of 5 Unique ID (1883464) Good stuff: The Hotel is in a great location on Princes Street. It's only a 25 minute bus trip from the airport which drops you right across the street. Overall: Hot water took about 5 minutes of running the tap before you got any. |

Rating of 4.71 out of 5 Unique ID (1814606) Good stuff: Proximity to transportation and to sites of historic interest. Bad stuff: Very minor-- but need to work on front door so it readily closes. Overall: Your websites was very informative. |

Rating of 3.86 out of 5 Unique ID (1610951) Good stuff: comfortable bedroom facilities, efficient and friendly staff, excellent position in the centre of the city. Very conveniant. Bad stuff: the room needed double glazing, it was extremely noisey throughout the night and morning with traffic and delivery van noises. |

Rating of 4.43 out of 5 Unique ID (1549561) Good stuff: Comfortable and clean friendly staffgood location if a little noisy. probably made worse by the street cleaners for the opening of parliament Bad stuff: Service for dinner was very slow abiut an hour and a half for 2 courses Overall: Overall for a city centre hotel good value for money but Dinner on friday was disappointing as the roast lamb was exceptionally fatty and the service very slow |

Rating of 4.86 out of 5 Unique ID (1536132) Good stuff: The hotel was very easy to find ,the staff were very friendly. |

Rating of 3.14 out of 5 Unique ID (1515908) Good stuff: location, proximity to train station Bad stuff: strange odor in the room, very loud street noise. Overall: I picked this hotel because I needed a single rm close to Waverly train station. I was expecting the hotel to be adequate and it was. My room was clean, but again, there was an unpleasant odor that I tried to clear by opening the window. The street noise was quite loud as I was on the 1st floor, but that's not the fault of the hotel. Perhaps the double rooms on upper floors are nicer, but this single room was disappointing. |
