Rating of 3.14 out of 5 Unique ID (108965396) Good stuff: rooms were in very good condition Bad stuff: one receptionist was very kurt and at times rude. also was very noisy outside hotel at about 3am every night. Overall: perfect location, good breakfast and rooms. would go back |
|
Rating of 5.0 out of 5 Unique ID (108242500) Good stuff: beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle from our room housekeeping done well and daily good breakfast selection helpful staff Bad stuff: elevator small and slow - but only a comment, no real bad points. Hotel has several steps to get up to reception and then a few more steps to get to the elevator so not suitable for anyone with mobility concerns. Overall: Great location, nice clean room with great water pressure in the shower and comfortable bed. Good breakfast food selections. Helpful and friendly staff. |

Rating of 4.71 out of 5 Unique ID (107731112) Good stuff: Excellent food and the location of hotel for sightseeing is second to none Overall: The hotel was reccommended by a friend who has stayed numerous times and we would definitely pass on our own reccommendations to others |

Rating of 4.43 out of 5 Unique ID (97748716) Good stuff: attitude of staff comfort of rooms Bad stuff: the large sash windows rattled in the wind all night and kept me awake! |
|
Rating of 4.14 out of 5 Unique ID (97818625) Good stuff: Central location Overall: Partner has previously stayed at this hotel. Slight refurbishment going on, some of the staff had limited English communication skills. |

Rating of 3.43 out of 5 Unique ID (99544417) Good stuff: the accommodation was generally pleasant and appealing Bad stuff: The curtains did not fit the windows correctly and there was no blind/curtain at the bathroom window. Overall: We felt that the provisions in the bathroom were a bit sparse,ie no shower hat, body lotion. We did expect these from a hotel in this bracket. The parking facilities are rather awkward therefore clear, concise directions would have been an advantage. We had a lot of luggage as we were part of a wedding party and it was very inconvenient not knowing where the car park was in relation to the hotel. It was also very inconvenient not being able to pull up closer to the hotel in order to drop the luggage off or not being advised in advance that this was the case. |

|
Rating of 4.29 out of 5 Unique ID (99203859) Good stuff: Very good location with super view from room, bar and restaurant. Excellent breakfast. Bad stuff: Small room. Overall: Very convenient location for travel by train or bus and for visiting both the New Town and the castle and Old Town. |

Rating of 4.0 out of 5 Unique ID (3304586806) Good stuff: Very central with easy access to all parts fo the city. Friendly and efficient service. Lovely room overlooking Princes Street. Clean bathroom and lovely shower with plenty of hot water. Bad stuff: Rather pricey - but I'm probably just out of touch! |

Rating of 4.57 out of 5 Unique ID (3304322149) Good stuff: The room was good. The food was excellent. Bad stuff: Car parking. Reception, you had too quew on stairs very dangerous. the tv in the room should be on the wal so you can see it when you are in bed. Overall: The main point is the car parking, or more to the point how you unload your car. You should let customers bring there bags in from the back where you receive your deliveries from. They could then go park their car then come back. |

Rating of 5.0 out of 5 Unique ID (3304234244) Good stuff: exceptional value for money, everything was just right, the room, the staff everything. Bad stuff: none Overall: I have never stayed in a hotel before. I booked it on the internet and I didn't really know what to expect. I was quite dubious because my friend who is recently widowed came with me and I was hoping it was all going to be ok because I wanted it to be ok for her sake. She worries alot and I didn't want this to be the case. The hotel was so convenient for the station as we came by train. We were able to leave our luggage and go off and explore Edinburgh as niether of us had been there before. We had a wonderful time and everything was perfect, the staff were very obliging, the room was first class and when we went to see a show on the Wednesday evening our evening meal was served so efficiently that we got their on time without having to rush . When we checked out we were again able to leave our luggage and enjoy the day round Edinburgh Castle before we departed for the train home again. Thankyou Old Waverley for making our stay so lovely. |

Rating of 4.86 out of 5 Unique ID (2884410) Good stuff: roomy and value for money Bad stuff: windows when closed very draughty Overall: one thing stood out was the service of ALL the staff a very enjoyable stay and when we visit again we will use the same hotel |

Rating of 2.43 out of 5 Unique ID (1768698) Good stuff: Central to the city Bad stuff: Decoration of rooms, electrical equipment and plumbing. Overall: Staff were friendly and very helpful, but for the price of the accommodation the rooms were of very poor quality. The first room I was shown was dreadful and it was fortunate that I was able to change rooms. |
|
Rating of 2.57 out of 5 Unique ID (2580578) Good stuff: The convenient location to all tourist activities in Edinburgh. Bad stuff: Customer care. Overall: Our room at the time of our visit is probably not representative of the whole hotel. The room we had was adequate for our use however it overlooked the back street where the refuse collectors start work as early as 4.00am and are by nature of their work very noisy. At the time of our stay the room next door was being refurbished. The builders started work at 8.00am and were also very noisy. Our room should not have been used during rebuilding works for paying guests. |

Rating of 3.71 out of 5 Unique ID (2442040) Good stuff: Helpful, polite staff; manager for morning breakfast was humorous and welcoming; great location with easy walking access to Old Town, New Town and train station. Bad stuff: General state of repair, door knobs, plumbing; eggs at breakfast seemed like powdered eggs (expensive breakfast) Overall: The staff was helpful and well-prepared for dealing with the difficult situations pertaining to G8-related demonstrations occurring while we were there. They provided security yet were reasonable about allowing guests access into and out of the hotel. Although the accomodations were adequate, the hotel seemed rather expensive relative to US standards. I am assuming that this is because the wonderful location is hard to beat. |

Rating of 2.29 out of 5 Unique ID (2462790) Good stuff: Location Bad stuff: Staff friendliness; staff effenciency particularly during check in and out |
|
Rating of 3.43 out of 5 Unique ID (2355990) Good stuff: Location, historic architechture Bad stuff: Elevator too small, quality of breakfast could be better Overall: Steps from street up to concierge difficult to manage with luggage. Great location, old style hotel, but renovations a little amateurish. Overall a good central place but not exceptional quality. |
|
Rating of 3.71 out of 5 Unique ID (2256260) Good stuff: Hotel location perfect. View from room excellent. Both bedroom and bathroom spacious. Convenient to have coffee making facilities in room. Bad stuff: Bathroom needs updating. Bath slow to drain, mould on grouting in bathroom, Taps in sink difficult to turn off completely. Tv remote control not working properly. Scuff marks on bedroom walls, and general need to redecorate room. |
