Good stuff: I found the room to be extremely comfortable and felt it represented good value for money. As a swimmer I was delighted to find a pool was available for use.

Bad stuff: No particular objections to the accommodation, if your being very picky you would comment on the sheet having a small hole in it.

Overall: When I booked the hotel I was in a hurry, having to find the accommodation at relatively short notice. I was looking for a central location, that provided good accommodation at a reasonable price. I was after all only looking to stay one night. This hotel met those criteria with the added benefits of a leisure suite.

Good stuff: The rooms were quite spacious and comfortable.Having a secure onsite covered parking area, was a positive aspect, especially given that it was winter. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and were there to offer assistance, without being in the way at every turn.

Good stuff: Location, leisure facilities (swimming pool), seperate bathroom/toilet, sofa in room, coffee making facilities

Bad stuff: The food was disappointing at times. The country salad with bacon and egg, ordered in the bar was served missing the bacon. The breakfast buffet on our first day was very depeleted with no bacon and eggs for more than 15 minutes despite frequent requests. The evening meal in the restaurant was of disappointing quality.

Overall: The main objective of the stay was to visit the Fringe festival and to relax. The hotel provided a perfect base with a central location and a pleasant atmosphere. All the information I needed was provided. The food was a disappointment, being a food professional based in Switzerland I may have high standards but I really felt the restaurant was charging over-inflated prices for what it was delivering - not a complaint about the price more about the quality. The chips were raw in the middle, the steaks were mixed up in the service (medium and medium rare) and were very ordinary.I felt more attention was paid to the presentation than the preparation. I would prefer to have a pile of properly cooked chips rather than a pretty stack of undercooked chips. The service was extremely friendly and despite the food we will consider using this hotel again.

Bad stuff: Severe lack of parking - if you are after 6 arriving, you have to park down the road and pay more than you would if you could park under the hotel.

Overall: If you want parking, get there early, otherwise you have a bit of a walk.

Good stuff: Good facilities. Very well laid out room with good use of space.

Bad stuff: Bathroom on the small side. Got away with it because of intelligent layout, but only just.

Overall: Enjoyed stay. Very pleased that I was able to check in at 8.30am. Good inobtrusive cleaning staff. Though I didn't use it, it was good to see late breakfast on weekends. Room service menu didn't seem to cater for snacks /lighter meals. I'd have liked to use it a couple of times but nothing seemed to fit the bill.

Good stuff: Rooms were very clean and modern. The hotel was quiet - no noise from outside or other guests. Pool & sauna good.

Bad stuff: Pool area was a mess. Dirty towels everywhere. No clean towels or locker keys.

Overall: Apart from above commnent regarding dirty changing rooms we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it. I think you should include breakfast in the price of a room though.

Bad stuff: Expensive breakfast, no choice of continental breakfast

Overall: As a regular traveler this hotel meets all the basic needs of convinence for a business traveler. Although resonable value yhe extras are expensive, ie £2.00 for a soft drink in mini bar. I nwould not hesitate to use it again for its good location and service.

Bad stuff: The conversion from pounds to sterling makes the hotel very expensive.

Overall: Excellent. Really enjoyed the stay. The only problem was the expense of the conversion from Euro to Sterling.

Overall: This is a nice and comfortable hotel, close to the city centre and main attractions in Edinburgh. The room was spacious, clean and modern. Plus points for swimming pool and sauna.
