Rating of 1.86 out of 5 Unique ID (108540923) Good stuff: The duvet was very warm to keep the winter chill off, Bad stuff: cups and mugs to small. got locked out from the inside door coming back in. hotel bar closes to early |

Rating of 2.71 out of 5 Unique ID (108633234) Good stuff: A nice breakfast area and guest lounge. Bad stuff: There were a lot of stairs and housekeeping was infrequent, I'm used to more engaging hosts at most small hotels. Overall: Overall it was acceptable, but I would stay at a smaller more friendly hotel next time. |

Rating of 4.29 out of 5 Unique ID (108595090) Good stuff: Excellent service, especially during check in. Extremely forthcoming to help with finding restaurants and places to visit. Due to allergies, a non-feather duvet was found at extremely short notice. Breakfast was busy but an enjoyable, relaxing setting. Bad stuff: Fortunately we were spending the evening out as the 21st party hosted by the hotel was, by all accounts, very loud. Overall: Excellent, extremely welcoming staff, my first enquiry if I were to stay in Edinburgh again. |

Rating of 2.14 out of 5 Unique ID (108968803) Bad stuff: Electrical/TV apparatus inconvenient to use-tele perched on inadequate shelf & not capable of being viewed from bed |

Rating of 4.14 out of 5 Unique ID (2672559) Good stuff: We were like a part of their family Bad stuff: Nothing Overall: The hotel was in a good area of Edinburgh, within walking distance 30 minutes of the city or by bus from outside the hotel. There wasn't anything we didn't know before we stayed there, very good Dinners! |

Rating of 4.29 out of 5 Unique ID (2962091) Good stuff: very friendly staff, breakfast very good but not scottish! Bad stuff: a little noisy from function below but to be expected at this timeof year Overall: All was as described on the web site very good value and accessible to the city easy to use public transport buses 24 hours continual |

Rating of 5.0 out of 5 Unique ID (2208268) Good stuff: The combinition of hotel and personal contact with the staff. Bad stuff: Better signs for the parking area. More information about the public transport routes. Overall: I can't find any critical points that really should be different. We were satisfied and had a very pleasant staying there. |

Rating of 4.71 out of 5 Unique ID (2397834) Good stuff: Comfortable, clean, everything well laid out. Bad stuff: A quick lick of paint here and there, not much more. Overall: Was well informed on all aspects. |

Rating of 5.0 out of 5 Unique ID (1912790) Good stuff: Owners made one feel very welcome, nothing was too much of an effort. Gave plenty of advice of where to go and what to see. Bad stuff: Was quite happy with everything they had to offer. Overall: All i can say is that i really enjoyed my stay there, the owners and staff as i said were very accommodating and made one feel very welcome. The atmosphere was very casual and friendly. All my earlier enquiries were answered and new what to expect when arriving at the hotel. So basically if one has any queries my best advice would be to call the hotel before arriving for the answers, in that way there are no surprises. |

Rating of 4.71 out of 5 Unique ID (2188300) Good stuff: It's a very friendly place - small enough (26 rooms?) to have personal service but big enough to not feel over-fussed. Loads of buses call at the bus stop opposite which means you'll be in the centre of Edinburgh in less than ten minutes for less than a pound. Bad stuff: Current owners have only had the hotel since January 2005 and they are constantly improving facilities. I found nothing to complain about - US visitors might have a problem with shower pressures - but it's already up to a good standard for a family hotel. Overall: I stayed for a week on business, keeping irregular hours. Early morning were no problem (the proprietors booked me reliable cabs) and they re-opened the bar for me when I came back exhausted one evening after 11.30pm. There is a restaurant serving great Scottish breakfasts and a limited selection of evening meals, aided by the fact that the owner was trained as a chef (and clearly got the hang of it!) If you like staying in anonymous chain hotels like Best Western or Ramada you'll probably not like this hotel. But if you like a personal and friendly reception you'll love it. |

Rating of 4.0 out of 5 Unique ID (2215005) Good stuff: The location is excellent. Close enough to access the centre of the city but far enough out to be quiet and relaxing. The staff and owners were excellent. Bad stuff: Given that occasionally the hotel does host private functions (particularly on saturday evenings) and these can result in some noise till late it would be fair if this was mentioned in background information. Overall: Quite simply this was one of the friendliest and most enjoyable small hotels I have stayed in. The staff and owners were so helpful and friendly that it is hard to find any fault. They are also fortunate in their location with easy access to the bypass but also close enough to the city centre attractions with a frequent bus service. |
