Rating of 4.71 out of 5 Unique ID (1956082) Good stuff: Good value, friendly staff, good food, location near to City Centre, Overall: Pleasant & memorable holiday. Parking wasn't always easily accessible. Not many places seem to offer evening meals. Handy street map given. Good place for base on sight-sseing/touring leisure holiday. |

Rating of 5.0 out of 5 Unique ID (2507010) Good stuff: The Host and hostess were very friendly and helpful with local information. Overall: Guest House was conveniently situated - 5 min drive from castle area. Clean and friendly; definitely would recommend the Mardale to other travelers. |

Rating of 3.86 out of 5 Unique ID (2063249) Good stuff: a small decent residence Bad stuff: the shower is too low, I could not stand straight Overall: Price/quality is a fine hotel just out of the centre. |

Rating of 3.14 out of 5 Unique ID (1356490) Overall: I actually thought the room was over priced - it was very basic. It was described as delux - which I think is a misleading description. Staff weren't unfriendly, however I didn't feel we were made to feel very welcome. |

Rating of 5.0 out of 5 Unique ID (1697722) Good stuff: Comfort of bed and clenliness of room. Bad stuff: It was all good Overall: I found everything I needed to view the guest house on the net. |

Rating of 2.0 out of 5 Unique ID (1460460) Good stuff: It was clean and handy for buses into town Bad stuff: did not get double deluxe room that we had booked Overall: Parking is very bad and only got a place by the owners daughter giving us hers. Booked a double deluxe room but was given a family room instead and nothing like the picture on their website. This was the dearest of all the bed and breakfasts that we stayed at in Scotland and was the worst. |

Rating of 1.71 out of 5 Unique ID (1182328) Good stuff: The breakfast was good. A full cooked breakfast with the option of cereals and fruit. Bad stuff: Owner was unhelpful, inflexible and rather rude. It spoilt our trip to Edinburgh. Overall: I chose this guesthouse as it is almost twice the price of most in Edinburgh. I expected it to be outstanding and a treat for my partner for his birthday. However, we were thoroughly disappointed. Our private bathroom was not in our room, but infront of the dining room and kitchen, offering very little privacy. Our room was not serviced during the day - bins not emptied etc. We had booked for 3 days, but unexpectedly had to leave after 2 days. We were willing to pay for the 3 we had booked although it is certain that the room could have been re-let during the Edinburgh Festival! On the day of our departure we asked if we could leave our baggage until the early evening (having paid for a further day), but were told that we had to pick it up by 4.30 and give our keys back immediately. We were also informed that if we did not do so, our suitcases would be left in the porch! This in our view, is thoroughly unacceptable. We would not recommend this Guesthouse to anyone. I have stayed at many other guesthouses in Edinburgh for half the cost and have found the proprietors to be considerably more cheery and accommodating. |
