On a warm day in April 2004 I personally came here and had to wait a few minutes for my room to be ready in the comfortable bar and lounge. The well trained staff quickly anticipated my requirement for a cool beverage which was brought to my table. Quite frankly that made my day. The two meals that I had here were of a very high standard and I would recommend a repast here as a special treat. A good place to stay all round in my personal opinion : This note brought to your from your webmaster

Rating of 4.0 out of 5 Unique ID (1486906) Good stuff: ROOMS WERE SPACIOUS AND WELL PREPARED. Bad stuff: SHEETS NOT CHANGED FOR THE DURATION OF OUR STAY. Overall: Overall a very pleasant stay. Service at the bar was slow and on one occassion nonexistent.Staffing levels appeared inadequate, overworked and somewhat dis-organised.That said we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel to our friends. Restaurant was excellent if not a little over-priced, service was very good however a language problem led to a full bottle of wine arriving rather than a glass. One criticism I would have of the service offered in the restaurant would be the fact that the bottle of wine arrived at the table pre-corked The bill for our stay was inaccurate i.e. in that we did not avail of breakfast however we were billed for 4 of same. This issue was resolved promptly and without fuss. Location was perfect, only a few minutes walk to the centre of the city. |

Rating of 5.0 out of 5 Unique ID (1413087) Good stuff: Everything about the hotel was really good. We were on our honeymoon and we had a lovely meal and breakfast delivered to our room. This hotel was the first hotel we stayed at in Scotland and was definetely the best. One thing I did find whilst travelling around Scotland was that a lot of hotels did not provide sweetners, although the Holyrood hotel did, and me being Diabetic this was very important to me. Bad stuff: We did find it very hard to find. The instructions you get on the internet weren't very good and we found Edinburgh a nightmare to drive in, the worst bits were we had a street map of Edinburgh and where we wanted to go you couldn't turn either left or right, so it did take us quite a while to find the hotel. Overall: Better instructions on how to get to the Hotel. Apart from that it was a very enjoyable experience for our first night in Scotland. |
