Good stuff: In general, freindly, willing staff

Overall: We felt that the difference in price for the festival season was probably excessive, but otherwise the Hotel was everything we expected

Good stuff: Generally nice room and lovely victorian building. Very good for central access to Edinburgh.

Bad stuff: Disappointing bathroom facilities [n.b. shower - cramped & poor standard]; hot room & window would not open.

Overall: We were only staying one night, and so booked this without knowing the city in advance. Whilst we accept that it is city-based accomodation, we had equally good and in some cases better accomodation at half the price during the rest of our stay in Scotland. At a price of £45 each, I think the standard of the bathroom facilities in particular was disappionting, although generally the room was nice. The member of staff we met was also pleasant and provided a welcoming service. Little things make a difference e.g. the milk with our tea at breakfast was UHT milk, and I would expect it to be fresh / pasteurised for that kind of price bracket. In general, I would have considered this a good standard for a £25 - £30 pp bracket accomodation, but disappointing at £45 pp.
