Good stuff: right in the heart of the city, good food, and the sauna was spot on!

Bad stuff: it was all very good! although the bar could use a cocktail menu.

Good stuff: The rooms we were allocated were extremely small and the lighting was very poor

Bad stuff: The entrance door area needs an inner and outer door as it makes the reception area, lounge bar and restaurant directly above very cold.

Overall: The hotel was very conveniently located in the middle of town. The food was excellent, plenty of choice and good value for money. Wines were overpriced.

Good stuff: Super people working at your hotel...just incredibly nice.

Bad stuff: The rooms are run down and need an over haul...Bathtub stopped up and leaking...you really should get air conditioning for a four star hotel...curtain holders were falling off the wall..jacuzzi was broken...etc., etc.

Overall: Really great because of your workers. But you should realy include breakfast for the price guests pay

Good stuff: The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating. They were excellent at suggesting places to go.

Overall: I have to say this is a great location. The staff is friendly. The rooms have a terrific view. I would completely recommend the Carlton for others and will go there again should I come back to Edinbrough.

Good stuff: Nice reception and public areas. Very good location.

Bad stuff: Room was smaller than I like. Bathroom cramped. A little bit targeted at businessmen ~ Corby Trouser press rather than an iron in room.

Bad stuff: Fire alarm went off Sat pm. Hairdryer didn't work. Window wouldn't open.

Overall: Overall a nice hotel in an excellent location. The room was good, although the window wouldn't open properly and we had to get the hairdryer fixed. The fire alarm went off on Saturday evening, didn't think the situation was handled very well.

Bad stuff: The plug sockets didnt work in the am! The fuse had blown i think The fire alarm was tested at 9am and no one warned us this was planned so we didnt know what to do.

Overall: Disappointed that evening meals stopped at 2130 - just as I was arriving but too late but presumably the same chef cooked the bar meal. Also having had to leave to catch an ealry train there was no prospect of breakfast. So I thought the accommodation good but the dining arrangements disapointing. J M Clipson
