Rating of 3.0 out of 5 Unique ID (99505185) Good stuff: good location, friendly staff, good breakfast and pleasant reception areas Bad stuff: no remote control for tv so it was pretty much unusable, 1 electrical socket not working in the room, decor looked faded and slightly grubby, sink leaked, there was a badly repaired hole in the bathroom door. Overall: The downs weren't bad enough to make me not want to stay there again but I'd expect a lower price if I did it again. The location is handy for walking/public transport and parking was ok at this time of year (October). The breakfast was good and plentiful and most of the dislikes mentioned above didn't cause huge inconvenience as we didn't spend a lot of time in the room but it had a generally uncared-for look, although the public areas were much better. All the staff were helpful and friendly. |

Rating of 4.0 out of 5 Unique ID (3304194556) Good stuff: GOOD LOCATION AND CLEAN Overall: NICE CLEAN BASIC HOTEL IN A GOOD LOCATION IN THE HEART OF EDINBURGH, 5 MINUTES WALK FROM THE MAIN RAILWAY STATION. |

Rating of 4.43 out of 5 Unique ID (2540695) Good stuff: Location of the hotel was just right for me, and my room was a good fit for me. Breakfast was excellent. Bad stuff: My bedroom window was screwed or bolted in a partly open position, so it was chilly at night, and there were bugs (but not biting bugs). Permit Guests to adjust or close windows. Overall: Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at the Cairn Hotel. The staff were very knowledgeable and pleasant, especially the breakfast manager. While I found the location ideal for me, there was a lot of noise outside in the neighborhood in the wee hours of every morning, both weekends and weekdays. But this was not the hotel's fault, and probably would have been worse on Prince's Street or Grassmarket, for instance. |

Rating of 1.86 out of 5 Unique ID (2085186) Good stuff: It was clean and close to the centre Bad stuff: It is very old and in need of repair. the hotel door room kept sticking and my poor elderly mum got locked inside her room at one stage! Also you have to go downstairs to the restaurant which we were not aware of when we booked. Overall: The staff were very friendly and kind as I took ill while I was staying there but it is a very old property in need of modernisation and expensive considering this fact |
