For the shopper the best places to head for are the pedestrianised Buchanan Street, Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street - you can browse, shop and take your time with so many choices on offer. Argyle Arcade is one of Britain's oldest covered shopping arcades and there you will find over 30 jewellers. Buchanan Galleries is the largest city centre retail projects and St Enoch Centre has recently been renovated - rather cosmopolitan with designer names attached to it. The Merchant City area is where you will find the open air street market selling everything from bric a brac, traditional woollens, tartan scarves and kilts to golfing equipment and of course Whisky.
Art and culture are important to Glasgow and there are over 20 Museums - most of them with free admission and well worth visiting. A tribute to art, religion, transport, culture, science and ancient architecture. A truly magnificent city to visit.
